While most Berlin clubs focus on dancing only, Klunkerkranich begs to differ with its all-inclusive nightlife concept.
The sprawling oasis took flight in 2013 when two visionary friends saw potential in a parking lot atop a shopping center. Since its inception, Klunkerkranich has been sitting in the southern district of Neukölln, a lesser-known gem brimming with pastry shops, canalside markets, and village-like areas.
Situated on the 5th floor, the Berlin club is anything but mainstream. Spanning a generous space, the nightlife venue offers everything from a cozy bar to a bustling rooftop. The centerpiece – called the living room – is where the air gets filled with dancing energy.
There are two words that best describe Klunkerkranich club’s decor – delightfully spontaneous. It seems like a rogue artist collective hastily assembled it. With its wooden structures harking back to the 2000s Berlin, Klunkerkranich is an architectural testament to the city’s creative spirit.
Inside, the club’s décor adds a rustic charm, featuring vintage lampshades and furniture that ooze a laid-back atmosphere.
DJ sets are de rigeur at the Berlin club, but that doesn’t mean live performances are out of the picture. During the few events where classic electronic beats don’t hype up the crowds, indie bands offer a breather from Berlin’s music ethos.
Klunkerkranich allegedly hosts an ever-revolving cast of over 150 bands annually, injecting an extra dose of vivacity.
Since the party hub thrives on its offbeat community, the venue mostly attracts locals – cocktail aficionados, gig lovers, or electronic music fans.
In a city defined by contrasts and surprises, Klunkerkranich offers visitors an experience that is as much a discovery of Berlin as it is a discovery of one’s spirit of adventure.
