Maybe one of Amsterdam’s most coveted clubs, Melkweg is a pillar in the city’s clubbing scene.
With decades of party planning under its belt, the club saw daylight for the first time back in 1970. It is located in Leidseplein, central Amsterdam, a buzzing nightlife hotspot brimming with an array of pubs, coffee shops where you can smoke a fatty, and street performances.
But the icing on the cake is Melkweg’s building. A former milking factory, the large-scale venue is a two-story space featuring high ceilings and no windows.
Spanning multiple rooms, the Amsterdam club is loyal to its industrial roots through black walls, exposed brick structures and steel balconies. Thanks to their versatility, the rooms can be easily transformed to suit a certain vibe.
A music venue through and through, Melkweg is responsible for hosting some of the city’s hottest events. Although it garnered a reputation for its bumpy R&B parties, concerts and Latin nights, the music hub has a long-time affair with electronic beats.
Since its popularity reached international heights, Melkweg is frequented by everyone from international students to middle-aged ravers.
With its clubbing experience and all-inclusive approach to nightlife entertainment, Melkweg should be a party priority when in Amsterdam.
