The Rail is a historical nightlife spot that is San Diego’s first LGBT+ bar and nightclub.
Established in 1930, The Rail nightclub is the oldest gay nightclub in San Diego. The club is housed in an official San Francisco landmark, The Orpheum Theater. It is in the Hillcrest neighborhood north of San Diego, the center of the LGBT+ community, where the city’s Pride Parade takes place.
A disco ball refracts light onto the dance floor and stage while laser lights swivel across the room, making for a multi-sensory club experience. This buzzing San Diego hotspot features an outdoor patio for those who need an intermission.
Clubbers at The Rail can hear a broad range of music from its speakers, including hip-hop, electronic, pop, and Latin. A selection of artisanal cocktails and craft beer keeps everyone dancing to tunes all night long.
Besides its stellar drag performances, The Rail is famous for its themed nights, cabaret shows, and go-go dancers. The Rail prides itself on being a safe and inclusive space where everyone is welcome, regardless of age and sexual orientation.
After almost ten decades of being on the scene, it is no surprise that The Rail Club is famous among partiers inside and outside San Diego.
