Grab a bite to eat at Viejo Barreiro before it converts into a nightclub. You’re going to need the energy for what’s to come.

Viejo Barreiro first opened in 2008; the brainchild of Mariano, one of three founders of this entertaining venue. Directly east of Montevideo’s downtown, Viejo Barreiro is nestled in the significant neighborhood of Cordón, home to the National Library, Ministry of Health, University of Republic, and many other important buildings.

This Uruguayan nightlife venue is housed in a Spanish colonial architectural building, that matches the equally stunning interiors. With evenly spaced disco balls hanging from the ceiling, colorful laser lights, and smoke machines, Viejo Barreiro creates a perfect atmosphere for dancing.

Though this club falls in the multi-genre category, Viejo Barreiro has Latin beats at its core. Besides cumbia and reggaeton, there will occasionally be a mix of house or pop music.

It seems like Viejo Barreiro has a “never too old to party” mantra at its core. A quick look around the crowd and you will discover people of all ages and social statuses flocking to its groovy dance floor.

With fantastic LED disco lights illuminating the dance floor, Viejo Barreiro should be next on your list if you’re in town.
