Swifties aren’t the only ones mad at concert ticket scams. A new TicketSwap study has revealed music fans’ call for ticketing reforms amid recent chaotic ticket-buying events.

According to the buy-and-sell platform, nine out of ten ticket buyers believe the industry should be safer. Almost half of Britons have either been conned out or know someone who has.

While 53% of music fans said they purchased second-hand tickets in the past, 70% admitted scams put them off buying from the secondary market. Londoners lost the most money, with 24.3% losing between £100 to £149 on a fake ticket.

The findings also indicate that 60% of those surveyed believe dynamic pricing – the system where ticket prices rise based on demand – is unfair, with only 3.6% agreeing with the process.

Regarding industry practices, 40% called for an end to ticket scams and a third said resale prices should be capped.

TicketSwap’s Mike Robinson commented on the survey saying that ticket resale prices “have reached extortionate levels, pricing out even the most dedicated of fans.”

Billed as an ethical marketplace, TicketSwap uses proprietary technology to combat fraud and scams.

Festival discovery app Soundclub uses TicketSwap as one of its ticket vendors.
