Boston’s nightlife is bouncing back post pandemic faster than any other major US city, according to Square stats. In the data obtained by NBC10 Boston, the cloud payment company measured millions of transactions at nightlife hubs across 13 cities between 7PM and 4AM.

From January to August 2022, Boston registered a growth of 41% in nightlife transactions compared to the same period last year. Californian city San Francisco came in second place with an increase of 28% in night-time spending.

Although NYC and Miami bring the biggest share of overall nightlife payments to the table, the Massachusetts city registered the most impressive growth.

Bryan Solar, the general manager of restaurants at Square, notes that the high demand is a natural effect of the COVID-19 slump’s aftermath.

“There was a lot of pent-up demand. People spent a year in their homes and now they want to go back, and they want to have that night out with their friends.”
