As the Amsterdam Dance Event season winds down, 23 European music festivals join the sustainability-forward club at the ADE Green Conference. Also dubbed the Green Deal Circular Festivals (GDCF), the eco-conscious initiative aims to reach climate neutrality by 2025.

By signing up, the number of participating music festivals has more than doubled to 43 festivals from 14 countries.

This year, the list of beat-fueled events that joined the international program includes everything from festival titans like Awakenings and Welcome To The Village, to mammoth events like Hungary’s Sziget and Serbia’s Exit.

The newcomers were joined on ADE Green Conference’s stage by several fest organizers who are already part of the sustainable group and the Netherlands’ Minister for the Environment Vivianne Heijnen.

Back in 2019, UK-based events, such as Boardmasters and Boomtown, signed the green deal along with other European fests like Best Kept Secret and Superbloom.

The Green Deal Circular Events is a partnership between festival organizations and the Dutch government aiming to create a sustainable blueprint for resilient and circular events.

The participating music festival must focus on five themes – energy, food and drinks, travel and transportation, materials and water.
